The PEACEofARTS (PofA) project stems from the urgent need to address the multifaceted challenges faced by young people, especially those affected by the war in Ukraine and migrants in the region. The project is driven by a commitment to foster peace, intercultural understanding, and social cohesion through innovative and community-driven approaches. The following vital factors initiated the project: War in Ukraine: The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has created significant challenges, especially for the youth population directly affected by the war. The project recognizes the need for targeted interventions to empower young people, promote healing, and contribute to rebuilding communities.

Migrant Integration: Migration, whether forced or voluntary, brings unique challenges for individuals seeking to integrate into host communities. The project acknowledges the importance of addressing the needs of migrants within the age group of 18-30, promoting their inclusion and contributing to community cohesion. Community Arts for Peacebuilding: Art has the power to transcend boundaries, amplify marginalized voices, and foster understanding. The project’s motivation lies in harnessing the transformative potential of community arts practices to promote dialogue, celebrate diversity, and contribute to peacebuilding. At the same time, By leveraging community arts practices, it seeks to provide a fresh and creative approach to peace education, emphasizing non-formal education tools and collaborative artistic endeavors. Youth Empowerment: Recognizing the potential of young people as agents of change, the project aims to empower them with peace communication skills, providing them with tools to contribute actively to peace and social cohesion in their communities. Addressing Urgent Needs: The project directly responds to the urgent needs of young people affected by the war in Ukraine and migrants in the region. By providing tangible skills, resources, and platforms for expression, the project contributes to the well-being and resilience of these communities. Innovative Approach: The innovative use of community arts practices distinguishes this project. Funding the project will support developing and disseminating online and offline resources, including toolkits and training materials, ensuring the sustainability and scalability of this innovative approach to peace education. Collaboration and Network Building: The project emphasizes collaboration between NGOs, youth centers, and migration integration centers, fostering a network for sustained cooperation. Funding will enable the creation of a supportive ecosystem for community-driven peacebuilding initiatives. Cross-Border Exchange: The project’s emphasis on cross-border exchange and collaboration contributes to broader regional stability and understanding.
